Lipatov: South Stream key for stable energy supply to Europe, 俄罗斯下议院能源委员会

As Yuri Lipatov, Chairman of the Russia's State Duma Committee for Energy, announced at an international media meeting on Nov 16, "South Stream" is essential for stable energy supply to Europe, particularly when a falling local production and growing future gas demand".
"I would also like to point out that the gas transit conflict with Ukraine made Europe realize the importance of diversifying the export routes and the necessity of reducing the transit risks. In this regard, "South Stream" and "North Stream" will be a direct link between the supplier and the consumer of hydrocarbons and will thus be an essential contribution in Europe's energy safety. Meanwhile, joint realization of the construction projects for new gas pipelines is an essential element of the new European energy safety architecture which is the only condition to provide reliable gas supplies to Europe regardless of the political or economic situation in the neighboring countries", added Lipatov.
