Third International Conference “Development of Arctic Shelf”, organized by Murmanshelf with the support of the Murmansk regional government and Murmansk regional Duma on September 30 – October 1, 2010, was an important step towards more profound international cooperation in Arctic Shelf development, re-thinking the state regulation in international investment projects in the Arctic and forming a hi-tech cluster in Murmansk region.The Arctic Shelf Conference mainly concerned Shtokman project, a new hi-tech cluster in Murmansk region as the base for production at the Arctic shelf, exploration and development of hydrocarbon reserves, as well as the legal aspects of Arctic shelf development.
Top representatives of the major Russian and international companies including Shtokman Development AG, Statoil, Total Exploration Development Russia, Zvezdochka, Reinertsen, Murmanshelf, TESKO, BDO, RN–SakhalinNIPImorneft, Sevmorneftegeologia, to name a few, have addressed the audience.
A total of 170 representatives of the oil and gas industry specialized in exploration, production and refining, as well as suppliers, R&D centers, high schools, banks, investment and insurance agencies, law-making and executive authorities have participated in the Conference that also listed participants as notable as the General Consulate of Norway in Murmansk, Canadian Embassy in Russia, Foreign Ministry of Sweden and UK Embassy in Russia, and the General Consulate of Netherlands in Saint-Petersburg.
