Oil, gas production in Russia's Sakhalin region to rise - Vice Governor of Sakhalin region, 萨哈林地区

Galina Pavlova, Vice Governor of Sakhalin region, made an official address on behalf of the Governor of Sakhalin region at the 14th conference "Sakhalin Oil and Gas 2010", opened on September 29 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and reviewed the results and prospects of oil and gas industry development on Sakhalin island.
According to the data announced by Pavlova, the current oil and gas production in the region is over 15 mln t of oil and 19 bln cubic m of gas. A feasible prospect is to increase hydrocarbon production up to 23 mln t of oil and 60 bln cubic m of gas by 2020. Pavlova also noted that Sakhalin is to become a reliable supplier of hydrocarbons to the Far East of Russia and Asia Pacific within the next 10 years.

Speaking about the current priorities for the region, Pavlova mentioned increasing hydrocarbon production on the Sakhalin shelf, implementating the Gazification Program, construction of cost-effective oil and gas refineries and attracting foreign investors.

According to Stanislav Svetlitsky, deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, Sakhalin region ranks third in Russia in terms of attracting foreign investments. "Both Russia and Sakhalin are driven by development of energy companies. The Ministry of Energy of Russia is further committed to support the initiatives promoted by Sakhalin region", noted Svetlitsky in his speech.

Alexander Medvedev, deputy Chairman of Gazprom, Mikhail Stavsky, Vice President of Rosneft, Andrey Galaev, CEO of Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd., Mark Nolan, VP for Russia and Middle East, Exxon Mobil Production Company, and other participants of Sakhalin Oil and Gas 2010, will spend the next two days discussing the results and prospects of the development of Sakhlain shelf.

One of the highlights of Sakhalin Oil and Gas 2010 is the ceremony of commissioning Odoptu field.
