Boris Silberminz, deputy General Director for exploration and development in Gazprom Neft, signes a contract for development of Badra field in Iraq in Baghdad
The contract is a result of the tender that was finished on December 12, 2009, with a consortium of Gazprom Neft, Kogas (Korea), Petronas (Malaysia), ТРАО (Turkey) winning. Gazprom Neft holds 30% in the project as its operator, Kogas – 22,5%, Petronas – 15%, ТРАО – 7,5%. The share of Iraq government, represented in the project by Oil Exploration Company (OEC) is 25%.

The project of Badra development is intended for 20 years with possible prolongation for 5 years. The expected oil production is about 170,000 oil barrels/day. Works are to start in 2010. Total investments in the project are about USD 2 bln.

The contract envisages a USD 5.5 reward for each produced barrel (or an equivalent oil volume) that Gazprom Neft is to get after reaching the initial production amount of 15,000 barrels/day projected for late 2012 - early 2013.

"The Badra development project is one of the key stages in the international development of the company. Start of Iraq operations is another important step for Gazprom Neft in accomplishment of the long-term plan of increasing the volume of production to 100 mln t of oil equivalent by 2020", announced Alexander Dyukov, Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Neft.
