Gazprom Neft is to become the first Russian company to begin industrial production of new generation of bitumen products at its oil refining facilities.
The application of this new product – polimerno-bitumen knitting – in road building will allow to increase considerably the service life of highways.
This is one of several investment projects part of Gazprom Neft's strategy of development of the bitumen business, enjoying the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
The first installation will have a capacity of up to 10 thousand tons a year and will come online at Omsk's plant in 2010. Gazprom Neft will supply bitumens to road services companies of the Siberian region, in particular, the Federal management of highways "Siberia"(ФГУ"Sibupravtodor"). SIBUR will act as provider.
Later on, the Company plans to take polymeric bitumens to other regions. To this effect, Gazprom Neft intends to build new installations, as there is no industrial production of PB products elswhere in the country.
The Chairman of Board, Alexander Djukov said,
"Gazprom Neft is the leader in oil refining. Development of bitumen business will allow us to keep and strengthen leading positions on these indicators. We plan and to expand further assortment of bitumen production at the oil refining factories."
"The given project is one more example of the fruitfull cooperation between Gazprom Neft and SIBUR, and will allow both companies to realise the industrial potential in this direction ", he added.
