Release Date: 2011-11-16

TNK-BP is investing over 1.8 bn rubles in the latest phase of a programme to enhance oil product quality at the Saratov Oil Refinery (part of the TNK-BP Group), the company reported in a news release.

Scheduled maintenance work is due to start at the refinery on November 18 and will include a range of comprehensive measures to upgrade the facilities. The most important activities designed to improve product quality will be technical re-tooling of the installations and replacement of catalysts in the reforming and hydro treatment units.

“The aim of the maintenance and upgrade programme is to ensure that our engine fuels comply with the technical regulations on vehicle and aviation gasolines, diesel and marine fuel, fuel for jet engines and heating oil, which set maximum time limits on the use of vehicle gasolines and diesel fuels, depending on their class. Overall investment in the product quality enhancement programme at the Saratov Refinery will exceed 5.9 bn rubles in 2011. To prevent any interruption to its customers’ fuel supplies TNK-BP has stockpiled oil products to cover the refinery’s maintenance period, with additional supplies available from the Company’s other refineries in the event of an increase in demand”, said Amir Feizulin, First Deputy Executive Vice President, Downstream.
