Second stage of Nord Stream accomplished: the pipeline reaches the Russian coast, Stroygazconsulting

Earlier, the pipeline was pulled to the Russian coast from Castoro Sei pipelay barge on July 28 in Portovaya bay in Vyborg near Saint-Petersburg. As Sergei Serdyukov, Nord Stream Technical Director, noted, this was the first operation of its kind in Russia in terms of the diameter, weight and length of the pipelines. He added: "Construction goes on schedule. The two contractors - Van Oord and Stroygazconsulting - are cooperating very well. Stroygazconsulting is in charge of constructing the on-shore section of the pipeline."
Nord Stream is a unique pipeline that represents the only case of using non-compressed transport of natural gas via almost 1,350 km. Lenght of the marine section of the pipeline is 1,224 km. The Russian Portovaya compressor station (also constructed by Stroygazconsulting) will be located 3 km away from the coast. The German compressor station will be located 110 km from the coast.
