State Duma focuses on energy efficiency, State Duma Committee for Energy

First session of the Coordination Council of United Russia, focused on energy saving and increasing energy efficiency, took place in the State Duma on February 11, 2010
Yuri LIPATOV, Head of the Energy Committee of the State Duma: “Coherent policy in the sphere of energy saving and energy efficiency is vitally important for Russia <…> and is directly related with ensuring national safety and energy safety”.

The major industrial and oil and gas companies, as well as state structures, are ready to introduce modern, energy saving equipment at their facilities. Small-sized companies are also increasingly aware of the fact that introduction of energy saving technologies allows saving energy and money.

As Yuri Lipatov explained, United Russia party stands at the forefront of the current economic, social and political reforms aimed at the benefit of the Russian people. The Coordination Council of the United Russia is the administrative and professional lead that will ensure efficient solutions for the current energy challenges of Russia.

To ensure efficient work in the regions, Lipatov suggested “creating regional Coordination councils for energy saving and energy efficiency” and “dedicated groups for industrial, construction, energy, transport and agricultural as well as legislative issues”.

The Bureau of the Coordination Council, the main organizing force responsible for consideration of projects, petitions and suggestions, consists of seven members of the Council. The first meeting of the Council also saw the approval of the Expert Council which consists of the scientific elite of Russia and is headed by Oleg Favorsky, academician of the Russian Science Academy in charge of the Academy’s Energy sector.
