Russia and Mongolia sign deal for uranium production joint venture, Rosatom

Sergey Kirienko, General Director of Rosatom, the State Atomic Energy Corporation, and Mr. S.Enkhbat, Head of the Nuclear Energy Department of Mongolia, have signed an interstate agreement for setting up Dornod Uran LLC, a joint venture for uranium production, on August 25.
The main activities of Dornod Uran, the Russian-Mongolian joint venture, will be exploration and production of uraniferous ores, transportation, refining, enrichment of the natural resources and sales of the end products; creation and operation of uranium production facilities and other infrastructure in Mongolia; drawing investments and financing of the joint venture in Mongolia, nuclear and environmental safety; recultivation according to the Mongolian law and the international standards as well as other auxiliary activities.

The equal co-founders of the joint venture are Atomredmetzoloto (Russia) and MonAtom LLC (Mongolia). Other legal entities can participate in the joint venture as shareholders, upon the co-founders’ consent. All the necessary licenses and permissions are provided by the Mongolian party according to Mongolian law.
