Meeting of the Russian-Venezuelan interstate commission in St-Petersburg, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation

Sergey Shmatko, Minister of Energy of Russia, is to participate in the 6th session of the Russian-Venezuelan interstate commission on August 14-15, 2009 in St-Petersburg, headed by Igor Sechin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia.
The first day features meetings of working groups with discussions of financial, industrial and upstream cooperation, as well as transport, communication and telecommunications.

Sergey Shmatko will head the working group for energy cooperation to discuss the implementation of Khunin-6 field development agreement signed during the visit of the Russian delegation to Venezuela in July 2009.

The parties will also consider cooperation in electric energy between INTERRAO UES and Corpoelec (La Corporación Eléctrica Nacional, Venezuela), authorized in the framework of the interstate Energy Cooperation Agreement.

Russia and Venezuela will also discuss further progress of works on Urumaco-1 and Urumaco-2 blocks and the development of oil pipeline infrastructure at the fields developed in Venezuela.
