Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia meets with General Electric, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation

Vyacheslav Sinyugin, Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, had a working meeting with John Krenicki, President, CEO of GE Energy Infrastructure. Representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Energy of Russia and GE Russia also took part in the meeting.The agenda of the meeting included discussion of the current situation in Russian economy, operation of national energy system under the crisis and the further prospects of the industry’s development.
According to John Krenicki, GE is participating in the investment programs of the Russian power generation companies and is planning to start construction of a spare parts and components production facility for the whole range of GE turbines that are available on the Russian power plants. New projects will require understanding of the prospects of Russian energy sector by the foreign investors.
Vyacheslav Sinyugin noted that the global crisis affected the operation of all branches of the national economy, including the energy sector. The Ministry of Energy modified the previous plans according to the changed situation, namely due to reduced energy consumption and modifications in the General Plan of power facilities allocation till 2020 and in the corporate investment programs. However Sinyugin also noted that the Government will nevertheless construct new facilities and continue the liberalization of the energy market.
According to Sinyugin, the changed conditions will require a special attention of the Ministry of Energy towards more energy efficiency in order to increase production efficiency and solve the issue of lacking energy facilities during the crisis.
