Rosatom and National Nuclear Energy Commission of Brazil sign a memorandum of mutual understanding for cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, Rosatom

On July 21 2009 Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko and Chairman of the National Nuclear Energy Commission of Brazil (Comissao Nacional de Energia Nuclear) Odair Dias Gonsalves signed a memorandum of mutual understanding for cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

The agreement for establishing practical cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy was reached during the visit of President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to Brazil in Nov 2008.
The memorandum stipulates the following activities: uranium prospecting, reactors of new generation, engineering and construction of research reactors, production of radio-isotopes and their use in medicine, industry and agriculture, training of personnel for the nuclear industry.
The parties will set up a working group for developing specific projects.
