Russian-German energy cooperation taken to a new level, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation

Charter documents of the Russian-German Energy Agency (RUDEA) were signed in München on July 16, 2009. The ceremony took place in the presence of Dmitry Medvedev and Angela Markel.
The Russian-German energy agency will be in charge of implementing innovative technologies and prospective projects to optimize the situation in energy saving and energy efficiency.

RUDEA’s pioneer activities will be projects in the regions of Russia that are most ready to use energy saving potential: Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod region, Sverdlovsk region, Kaliningrad region and a few others.

Russia and Germany also made an Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation and signed a Joint Declaration of Sergey Shmatko, Minister of Energy of Russia, and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Federal Minister for economy and technologies of Germany.

The Declaration, signed in München, covers almost all spheres of energy cooperation such as energy efficiency and implementation of energy saving technologies.

“This document contains the basic principles that take the Russian-German energy cooperation to a new level. We can say that this is a new stage of developing our relations in the sphere”, - according to Irina Esipova, Counselor of the Minister of Energy and Press Secretary of the Ministry.
