Russian-German energy cooperation reaffirmed in Berlin, State Duma Committee for Energy

“Russia will continue being a reliable energy supplier and a reliable partner in domestic and international energy projects aimed at energy safety, progress and development of Russian-European cooperation”Yuri Lipatov, Chairman of the Energy Committee of State Duma, took part in a discussion focused on energy safety organized by the Embassy of Russia in Germany in the framework of a Parliament evening for energy on July 1 in the Embassy of Russia in Berlin.
Around 100 Deputies of the Bundestag, representatives of the core German executive authorities and Russian business, management of major German energy concerns, a State Duma delegation and heads of the regional Russian participants of joint Russian-German energy projects, 300 participants in total.
V.Kotenev, Ambassador of Russia in Germany, presented a detailed report on pipeline gas supply systems; Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany, supported Russia saying that “Germany should tightly cooperate with Finland and Sweden to support Russia in construction of the gas pipeline in the Baltic basin”.
According to Yuri Lipatov, Russia regards Germany as its priority partner in energy and developing exchange on different aspects of reliable energy supplies for Europe. Promoting the construction of Nordstream is a considerable contribution of Russia and Germany in solving the global energy safety issues. “Its construction will enhance reliable energy supplies to Europe in the long term. The January crisis of Russian gas transit through Ukraine confirmed that this project is a priority, is the only alternative and is economically justified”.
