Russia and Germany promoting further development of energy partnership, Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation

Sergey Shmatko, Minister of Energy of Russian Federation, met with Günter H. Oettinger, Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg province of Germany, on May 26, 2009 to discuss intensification of partnership in efficient power utilization and development of renewables.
The Parties noted that energy partnership of Russia and Germany is an important component of the cooperation of both countries.

According to the Minister, implementation of new power efficient technologies has a high potential and represents wide opportunities for long-term partnership of Russia and Germany.

“We have a lot of interesting projects and our companies can cooperate efficiently in this sphere. Ministry of Energy of RF is ready for active support of this process”, commented Sergey Shmatko during the official opening of the meeting.

Participants of the meeting noted that creation of a Russian-German Agency for Power Efficiency similar to DENA, a German concern, and with DENA’s participation, is an important step for development of Russian-German cooperation.
