Omsk Oblast

Omsk Oblast is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast) in southwestern Siberia. It has an area of 139,700 km² and a population of 2,079,220 (2002 Census) with 1.1 million living in Omsk, the administrative center.

Omsk Oblast is bordered by Kazakhstan in the south, Tyumen Oblast in the west and on the north, and Novosibirsk and Tomsk Oblasts in the east. Its territory stretches for 600 km in the north-south direction and for 300 km in the east-west direction. The major water artery is the navigable Irtysh River.
