Repsol YPF

Repsol YPF is an integrated international oil and gas company, operating in more than 30 countries and is the leader in Spain and Argentina. It is one of the ten major private oil companies in the world and the largest private energy company in Latin America in terms of assets.

Repsol YPF reached a strategic agreement with the company West Siberian Resources (WSR) in Russia in February 2006, by which it purchased a 10% stake in the company. The agreement includes an industrial alliance to jointly develop hydrocarbon exploration and production projects in Russia, where West Siberian holds a significant portfolio of assets. The alliance with WSR will allow the company to enter the Russian hydrocarbons sector and constitutes a notable opportunity to gain presence in this region, where the company will take full advantage of all profitable activities that arise.

Additionally, in October 2006, Repsol YPF and Gazprom signed a preliminary agreement for the possible development of joint projects in the gas and oil business in Europe, Latin America and Africa, as well as Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) projects, using resources from the Russian Federation.
