Administration of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region
The Yamal Region is often called Russia’s ‘Arctic facade’, due to its location, and ‘Energy Heart’ for its famous huge hydro-carbon reserves.With a territory of 750 000 sq. km. and a population of 535 000 people, Yamal is today a sustainably growing region. 95% of the region’s economy is based on the Oil and Gas industry. Most of the gas production is operated by Russian energy giant Gazprom and its subsidiaries, with a production of more than 499 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
