TNK-BP is the leading Russian oil company among the top 10 private oil companies in the world in terms of crude oil production.

TNK-BP was formed in 2003 after the merge of BP’s Russian oil and gas assets and the oil and gas assets of Alfa, Access/Renova group (AAR), with BP and AAR each holding 50% of TNK-BP.

TNK-BP has a diversified upstream and downstream portfolio in Russia and Ukraine. The upstream operations are located primarily in West Siberia (Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts, Tyumen region), East Siberia (Irkutsk region) and Volga-Urals (Orenburg region). In 2008 TNK-BP (including its 50% share in Slavneft) had an average production of 1.85 mboed.

According to an independent appraisal, TNK-BP’s Total Proved Reserves amount to 10.252 billion barrels of oil equivalent, as of December 31, 2008, with a Total Proved PRMS reserve replacement ratio of 146%.
